Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
For the Topping
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the granulated sugar and vegetable oil until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the sugar mixture, and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
Shape and Bake
  1. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop the dough and roll it into balls.
  2. Roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
