Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs preferably Italian
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sauce
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 ounces
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Method
 

Prepare the Meatballs
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and set aside.
Cook the Meatballs
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. Once all meatballs are browned, pour the crushed tomatoes into the skillet.
  2. Add oregano and basil, stirring to combine. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
Combine and Melt
  1. Reduce heat to low and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and sauce.
  2. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for about 5 minutes.
Serve
  1. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
  2. Serve warm with pasta, rice, or bread as desired.

Notes
