Method
Prepare the Batter
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and eggs until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
Bake the Cornbread
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Prepare the Honey Butter
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter and honey until well blended.
Serve
- Once the cornbread is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Cut into squares and serve warm, topped with the honey butter.
