Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) red velvet cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 8 oz melting chocolate (dark or white)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the red velvet cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil. Beat until smooth.
  2. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  3. Crumble the cooled cake into fine pieces in a large bowl. Mix in the cream cheese frosting until the mixture holds together.
  4. Roll tablespoon-sized portions into heart shapes and place them on a parchment-lined tray. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Melt the chocolate according to package instructions and dip each pop into the melted chocolate. Allow excess to drip off and sprinkle with toppings if desired.
  6. Place back on parchment paper to set completely.

Keywords: For added flavor variations, consider using vanilla buttercream instead of cream cheese frosting or adding flavored extracts. To prevent cracks, ensure cake pops are chilled before coating and avoid overheating the chocolate.
