  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsulfured molasses
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup chocolate melts (dark, milk, or white)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugars, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix melted butter, molasses, eggs, and milk until smooth. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  3. Pour batter into a greased 9×13 inch pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool completely before crumbling the cake into fine pieces in a large bowl. Mix in frosting until moldable.
  5. Roll mixture into one-inch balls and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Melt chocolate melts according to package instructions. Dip each frozen cake ball in chocolate and place on parchment paper to set.
