  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 cups stale bread, torn into pieces

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, combine torn bread pieces with sautéed onions and garlic.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until frothy; pour over the bread mixture.
  5. Fold in chopped broccoli and shredded cheddar gently until well combined.
  6. Grease a baking dish and transfer the mixture evenly into it. Sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired.
  7. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
