These fluffy pastries can be filled with luscious chocolate, tangy lemon curd, or your favorite jam, making them perfect for any occasion. Ideal for brunches or special gatherings, Bomboloni will impress your family and friends with their irresistible charm and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • Your choice of filling (e.g., chocolate, jam)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by whisking warm milk and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it foam for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well in the center; add eggs and melted butter. Gradually pour in the yeast mixture until combined into a sticky dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl to rise for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  4. Punch down the risen dough, roll out to ½ inch thick, and cut into circles. Fill each circle with your chosen filling, then seal the edges.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pot. Fry Bomboloni for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and dust with sugar.
