Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm whole milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pistachios)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast on top and let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter; mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. While the dough rises, mix chopped nuts with cinnamon and honey in a bowl.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread nut mixture evenly over it and roll tightly.
  7. Cut into equal pieces and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish; allow to rise again for about 20 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown; drizzle with honey before serving.

Keywords: Swap nuts based on preference—walnuts or pistachios work beautifully. For added flavor, consider including cardamom or chocolate chips in the filling. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or freeze them for longer storage.
