  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix flour, cold butter, and sugar until crumbly. Press into muffin tins.
  2. Bake shells for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour custard into cooled shells and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 20-25 minutes until slightly jiggly in the center.
  5. For caramel, melt sugar over medium heat until amber. Drizzle over cooled tartlets.
  6. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
